Surgical Mission Trips

You are here: Home / John E. McClay, MD / Surgical Mission Trips

Dr. John McClay has been blessed in many ways, one has been to be involved in medical and surgical mission trips. He has been exposed to dedicated leaders who love the Lord and have created opportunities to serve others. Craig Hobar, MD, a pediatric craniofacial surgeon, and plastic surgeon in Dallas, Texas felt called 30 years ago to return to the Dominican Republic to care for children he encountered while performing some of his training there.

LEAP Global Missions

Dr. Hobar created LEAP Global Missions (Life Enhancement Association of People). LEAP is dedicated to enhancing and enriching the lives of people around the world by providing free specialized medical and surgical services inspired by the love of Christ.  With his steadfast dedication, the Lord grew his ministry to serve several places around the world.

Because of Dr. Hobar’s desire for excellent care in his surgical missions, he invited Dr. McClay to help in treating ear nose and throat problems that he encountered.  Dr. McClay has been fortunate to be able to travel to Haiti and Belize to help the people there, always receiving more in blessings than he offered.

Medical and Surgical Mission Trips

LEAP Global Missions is a Christian organization that provides specialized surgical services to underserved populations around the world. On October 11, Rebecca’s fate changed. HHM contacted Dr. Hobar, who immediately consulted Dr. John McClay, LEAP’s Director of Pediatric Ear, Nose, Throat and Sinus Surgery. A review of ta sinus CT scan made Dr. McClay suspect what was later confirmed: Rebecca had an expanding frontoethmoid mucocoele, causing severe propotosis and craniofacial abnormality. Untreated, it could have gone into her brain, leading to loss of vision and worsened deformity.

Amazon Outreach

He has been privileged as well to serve some of the inhabitants of Brazil along the Amazon River with his family, because of dedicated coordinators like Dave Delph, the headmaster of Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) , who, with his wife and other colleagues from TCA, organized trips for over a decade for his students over TCA’a Spring break week for over a decade with the Dallas organization Amazon Outreach.

When we serve others with a pure heart, at home or abroad, the joy of the Lord is given and received.  John E McClay, MD
